THE Nigerian Intervention Movement (NIM) led by Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) has adopted the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), one of the newly registered political parties, to contest the 2019 general elections.
The new deal was made public yesterday in Lagos at a news conference jointly addressed by the leaders of the movement and the party.
Agbakoba said NIM was faced with the option of either forming a new political party or adopting an untainted registered political party as a constitutional electoral vehicle to realise its political goals.
He explained that “given the timeline of the next general elections, the first option does not appear very feasible as there is no time to waste for us, hence our popular resolve to go for the second option of adopting a fresh and untainted political party with clear elemental potentials of delivering dividends of democracies to our people towards realisation of the new Nigeria of our dreams”.

Agbakoba, who was represented by the NIM’s Deputy Director General, Alhaji Naseer Kura, said: “NIM was compelled to scan the whole gamut of registered political parties, held very serious consultations and negotiating sessions with 17 political parties and found the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) to be the appropriate vehicle to actualise the political vision and agenda of NIM on a credible democratic alternative platform for fresh breed political leaders and ideologues.
He said that informed the “decision to adopt ANN as a preferred political party of choice on which we shall prosecute our ballot based, Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC)-driven revolution for 2019”. He added that ANN shared same philosophy, ideology and vision with NIM.
