No fewer than 12 senators, as well as 70 members of the House of Representatives from the All Progressive Congress (APC) drawn from the seven North Western zone are in Kaduna to drum support for President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in 2019.
This meeting is coming heels of the recent break way by some APC members who have called themselves the Reformed All Progressive Congress (R-APC).
A member of the organising committee who pleaded for anonymity told the Sunday Tribune that the meeting is expected to take place Sunday, July 8, and it will be chaired by a senator. “We are in Kaduna to tell the world that we remain bona fade members of the ruling party (APC). Also, to drum our support to Buhari /Osibanjo joint ticket.”

He said, the president is from the zone and the North West lawmakers are solidly behind him. “We are not saying that we don’t have disgruntled elements among us but I can’t assure you that those that will be coming for the solidarity meeting from the zone are in the majority,” he added.
It was gathered that lawmakers from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Jigawa will be attending the crucial meeting.
Findings revealed that nine House of Reps members will be coming from Kebbi, seven from Sokoto, seven from Zamfara, 14 from Katsina, Kano (15), Jigawa (11) and Kaduna (8).
While from the Senate, Kano (2), Sokoto (2), Katsina( 2), Jigawa (2) Zamfara (2) and Kebbi (12).

It was learnt that a rally will also hold after the meeting.
Some dissatisfied members of the ruling party mostly from the National Assembly pulled out from the APC and announced the formation of the Reformed All Progressive Congress (R-APC) under the leadership of Buba Galadima.

Galadima who claimed they are the real APC members, accused the Buhari-led government of failing to fulfil its promises. He asked the president to give way for a more serious candidate that will salvage the country from its recent predicament.
In an earlier report by Ujuayalogu'sBlog, the newly launched Reformed All Progressives Congress(R-APC) was said to have secured the buy-in of 30 senators and 60 members of the House of Representatives.
Members of the R-APC were said to have kick-started moves aimed at ensuring their defection to the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a matter of weeks.
According to report, all the processes leading to the mass defection will be concluded a week before lawmakers embark on their annual recess on July 21.
