A policewoman who reportedly stabbed her husband after a quarrel has revealed the reason for her act.
Folake Ogunbodede, the police sergeant who fled after stabbing her husband, Inspector Taiwo Ogunbodede over a disagreement on Saturday, at their residence in Ipaja, Lagos State, has finally spoken.
Folake claimed that she stabbed her husband in self defense.

We had reported that the couple had a misunderstanding and the husband left the house to allow things cool off. We noted that Folake warned him not to return home, but he did because he had nowhere else to sleep.
Upon his return, Folake was said to have descended on him and stabbed him multiple times before fleeing. Taiwo was later rescued by neighbors who rushed him to the hospital.
However, in a new report by TheNation, a source close to Folake was quoted as saying: “That report online was so unfair to the policewoman. It was a one-sided story.
The truth is that her husband is also a policeman. He’s an Inspector, and attached to LASTMA. They have been married for long and they have three children. The man always beats her whenever he’s drunk.
He doesn’t just beat her but uses any object closeby to hit her. There was a time he stabbed her on her breast and mouth. His drinking habit is one of the issues that usually caused problems between them.

I don’t know what caused Saturday’s fight, but he was the one who broke a glass and stabbed her near her eye and by the neck.
He pinned her to the ground, and in order to safe herself, she picked a splinter of the broken glass and stabbed him. That was how she fled the house to the police to report herself.”
The source also disclosed that the mother of three had been told by her family to leave the marriage, but she refused because of her children. While reacting to the news, the Lagos State Police PRO, Chike Oti, said the case was under investigation.
