The Nigerian police on Monday arraigned Oladele Oniyide before Magistrate Court 2, Isolo, Lagos state for impersonating as a lawyer and issuing illegal Notice To Quit.

Oladele Oniyide was arraigned on four counts of impersonation, breach of peace, forgery, and threat to life.

Luck ran out of him following a defective and ridiculous notice to quit he issued against Henry Abohor’s client.

The Henry Abohor perusing over the notice became suspicious as to which lawyer would issue such a funny notice.

He invited the 60 years old Oladele Oniyide for a meeting which he declined.

Further efforts to meet with him was abortive. Thereafter Oladele Oniyide became very aggressive and rude, even threatened to kill him, if he should enquire further into his credentials,’ Henry Abohor alleged

“Interestingly, Oladele Oniyide is a very popular person known by both young and old in Ijegun kingdom as a lawyer with the law firm ADIEL CHAMBERS, situated at No.: 127, Ogudu Road, Lagos, State.

“ He has vast number of clients and properties under his management as a lawyer.

“He has done quite a number of administrative bail at the police stations and in various magistrate courts in Lagos and Ogun State respectively, Henry said.

A police prosecutor, Rita, told the court that the offences contravened sections 168(d), 77(b) (b), 365(1) and 56 Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The presiding magistrate, Toluwo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum. Both sureties are to provide evidence of 3 years tax clearance, affidavit of means, address of the sureties to be verified by the prosecutor and sureties must be resident within the jurisdiction of the Court.

Both NBA Ikeja and Ota keenly followed up on the matter with a view at seeing that justice is done and an end is put to the menace of people parading themselves as lawyers when they never attended any law school nor were they properly called to the Bar.

The case was adjourned till January, 29th 2020.
