Bashir Mohammed
Bashir Mohammed, a member of the Taraba State House of Assembly, representing Nguroje State Constituency, who was kidnapped by gunmen on Wednesday, has regained freedom, a report by The PUNCH has shown.
An aide to the lawmaker told The PUNCH that his boss was released by his abductors last night.
Though the aide, who preferred anonymity, declined comment on how much was paid for his principal’s release, another source said millions of naira was given to the kidnappers before Mohammed was released.
Our correspondent could not independently verify the specific amount of the ransom as the police and other family members decline to speak on the amount.
Mohammed was said to have been rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention immediately after he was reunited with his family.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP David Misal, confirmed the development and said investigation was on to track down the kidnappers.
