The suspects
Not more than forty-three clubbers alongside strippers were arrested and detained by the police at Eclipse Night Club, Ligali Ayorinde Street, Victoria Island for flouting COVID-19 protocols following the second wave of the infections in the country.
This was made known in a statement released by the spokesperson of the command, SP CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who said the arrests were made on Sunday, January 10.
Adejobi said police operatives attached to Maroko Division of the state, on the order of the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, went after the deviant clubbers and got them arrested for clubbing without any regard for the COVID-19 protocols.
He said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that those arrested should be moved to Taskforce office Oshodi for prosecution.
He added that the police boss has also ordered that club owners should no longer be spared as they encourage total disregard for the protocols in the state.
It can be recalled that a Nigerian doctor, @drbellanifemi, wrote the Lagos state governor and commissioner for health, advising them on the rightful punishment for those flouting COVID-19 guidelines.
According to @drbellanifemi, those caught in the act should be punished with community service at IDH Yaba.
IDH Yaba is an infectious disease hospital in Lagos state, and the doctor believes that a first hand experience of the virus would allow them take the virus more serious.
