The popular chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu has donated N50 million to compensate for the losses of the victims of the Katsina Central Market fire and to rebuild the market.
He was in Katsina on Wednesday where he was received by the state governor, Aminu Masari, and was taken round the razed market by the governor.
He also paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Usman. Speaking about the incident, he commiserated with the victims and encouraged the traders not to lose sight of the bigger pictures despite the tragedy.
His spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, in an interview with the PUNCH said;
“Tinubu was in Katsina today to visit the burnt market. He was received by the governor and the governor led him to the market and pledged N50m for the rebuilding of the market. He also paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Katsina.”
