In continuation of his unapologetic show of force and flexing of muscles, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revoked a property in the Asokoro area of the FCT that belongs to a two-term former Attorney General and Minister of the Federation, Kanu Agabi.
The memo that revoked the Right of Occupancy of plot No. 2858 within the Asokoro (A04) District, belonging to the former Senator and AGF, was contained in file number CR10184.
In the official communication, which was signed by Umar Sayyadi, the Minister cited the exercise of powers granted under the Land Use Act No. 6 of 1978, Cap. 15, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
According to the memo titled “Notice of Revocation of Right of Occupancy with File No. Cr10184 over Plot No. 2858 Within Asokoro (A04) District, Аbujа,” the once-cherished rights, interests, and privileges over the prime plot have been summarily snatched away.
The decree further asserted that the revocation is a consequence of the occupant’s alleged flouting of the guiding terms of allocation, throwing the legality of the property’s ownership into a contentious arena. This bold move is stated to be in strict accordance with Section 25 Subsection 5a & b, leaving no room for dispute.
Expressing regret for any inconvenience caused, the notice concluded with what can only be described as a thinly veiled warning, urging the recipient to accept the Minister’s highest regards.
“I have been directed to refer to the above Right of Occupancy and to inform you that the Minister of Federal Capital Territory has in exercise of powers conferred on him under the Land Use Act No. 6 of 1978, Cap. 15. Lawn of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, revoked your rights, interests, and privileges ever Plot No. 2858 within ASOKORO (A04) District for contravention of guiding terms of allocation. This is also in line with Section 25 Subsection 5a &b,” it read.
Since his emergence as the Minister of the FCT, the former Rivers State governor has been all out, clamping down on houses he believes are contravening the FCT master plan.
Recall that in his inauguration speech after taking an oat as FCT minister, he said, “All those people who are distorting the master plan of Abuja, too bad. If you know you have built where you’re not supposed to build, it will go down”.
He added that for anyone who has developed where they are not supposed to, even if the culprit is a minister or an ambassador, “your house must go down.”
