Former lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani has appealed to Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, to rescind his decision to withdraw plans of investing in Nigeria’s steel industry.
Sani said Dangote shouldn’t pay attention to those he described as “old folks”.
According to him, Dangote’s investment will create thousands of jobs for the young people and help in the industrialization of the country.
“Dear Dangote, I know you are angry, but please rescind your decision not to invest in Nigeria’s steel industry. Your investment will create thousands of jobs for our young people and help in the industrialization of the country. Don’t mind those old folks.
Thank you,” Sani wrote on X on Monday.
The appeal comes amid Dangote Refinery’s row with agents of the Nigerian government. As a result, Dangote said he will halt his plans to invest in Nigeria’s steel industry to avoid being accused of monopoly.
Dangote made this known while addressing journalists at the refinery on Saturday.
He said the company’s board decided against the steel investment to avoid being considered as monopolistic.
